The role of the Flexible Nurse is to predominantly provide a home care service to train, educate and support patients in their own homes in the self-administration of subcutaneous injections. In addition provide education to healthcare professionals across primary and secondary health care settings. The Flexible Nurse Role has a dynamic and syndicated approach, working across various pharmaceutical company sponsored projects, including some which are audit and research based. 

Key Role and Responsibilities:
• Provide a homecare service to train patients and healthcare professionals in the use of delivery devices for the self-administration of prescribed subcutaneous therapies. 
• To provide patient education regarding their treatment to all patients and their carer/s referred to the service.
• Undertake risk assessments prior to undertaking home visits as required by company procedures.
• To fully document all patient interactions in accordance with Company policies and procedures which will include an electronic patient record system (EPRS). 
• To be pro-active and able to work under own initiative, whilst helping to maximise the potential of the team.
• Work across territories to support colleagues for A/L or sickness and where necessary stay overnight.
• To comply with the Adverse Event procedures of Ashfield Health Care and the client companies in respect of all matters relating to Pharmacovigilance. 
• To communicate with and develop relationships with key nursing staff and medical staff at all organisations for the delivery of the service.
• Where necessary ensure project specific service agreements are put in place with healthcare organisations in accordance with company procedures.
• Attend national nurse team meetings and project training as required.
• Complete all necessary administration in a timely and accurate manner, particularly in relation to activity reporting, information feedback and expenses. 
• Undertake other tasks and assignments which may be required by the Nurse Manager or Company as discussed and agreed.

Essential Skills: 
• Active NMC registration.
• Minimum of two years post registration experience.
• RCN member (or equivalent).   
• Experience in working in one or more of the following disease areas: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Oncology or Haematology. 
• Previous Community/Homecare experience.
• Previous Nurse Advisor experience.
• Ability to travel and work flexibly.
